Unbridled’s Song has another star in the making after Will Take Charge’s flamboyant maiden win Oct. 18 at Keeneland (VIDEO). The 2-year-old colt came from last in the field of nine, going six wide on the turn, and finally wearing down the field with his long strides to win by a little over a length in 1:24.01 for the seven furlongs.
The strapping chestnut colt is owned by Willis Horton, who paid $425,000 for him at last year’s Keeneland September yearling sale, the fourth-highest price paid for an Unbridled’s Song yearling at the sale.
Will Take Charge is out of Take Charge Indy, who earned nearly $2.5 million in a stellar career that included four graded stakes wins and her maiden win at Keeneland alone. She is the dam of Take Charge Indy, winner of the Grade 1 Florida Derby.
