Unrivaled Belle will make her next start in the Grade 1 Beldame at Belmont Park Oct. 2, trainer Bill Mott told the Daily Racing Form on Aug 31.
The daughter of Taylor Made stallion Unbridled’s Song has had a very good year, going 2-2-0 in five starts, with a win over 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra in the Grade 2 La Troienne at Churchill Downs on Apr. 30 and also a victory in the Grade 3 Rampart H. at Gulfstream Park on Mar. 20. She was second in both the Ogden Phipps and Ruffian Handicaps, both Grade 1 events.
Mott also told The Form that he contemplated the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) as the year end goal, but ultimately would stay on the path to the nine-furlong Ladies Classic (G1). The Breeders’ Cup will be held at Churchill Downs this Nov. 6-7, and the La Troienne was around two turns.
The gray or roan 4-year-old filly is an excellent 5-4-0 in ten lifetime starts. Peter Vegso and Gary Seidler purchased Unrivaled Belle at the 2007 Keeneland September yearling sale for $260,000. She is out of Queenie Belle, winner of the Grade 2 Lady’s Secret Handicap.
Unbridled’s Song is enjoying a typically strong year. The 17-year-old stallion currently ranks eighth on the 2010 General sire list with progeny earnings of $4.56 million.
