Regally-bred Play It Loud unveiled his talents Jan. 1 at Gulfstream Park with a very sharp-looking four length debut maiden win at one mile on the turf. The 3-year-old Unbridled’s Song is out of the multiple Grade 2 winner Bsharpsonata.
Unbridled’s Song wrapped up 2012 with $5,785,720 in progeny earnings, led by a pair of Grade 1 stakes winners in Emcee, who took Saratoga’s Forego S., and Honor Vivian, winner of the Gran Premio Longines H. Unbridled’s Song will stand the 2013 season at Taylor Made for $60,000 LFS&N.
Play It Loud came out ready to run from post position 10, quickly moving into the second spot through the first turn. John Velazquez kept his mount under restraint down the backstretch, then turned the dark bay colt loose nearing the top of the lane. The Kentucky bred colt quickly responded and widened his margin through the stretch to hit the wire in 1:35.78, earning a very strong debut Beyer Speed Figure of 82.
Play It Loud’s dam Bsharpsonata also had plenty of success at Gulfstream, winning both the Davona Dale S. (G2) and Forward Gal S. (G2) over the south Florida main track. The versatile mare was also a two-time stakes winner on the turf in the Tropical Park Oaks at Calder and Selima S. at Laurel Park.
Play It Loud was a $210,000 purchase at the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale, where she was offered by her breeder Clover Leaf Farms II. She is now owned by Dennis Narlinger.
