Taylor Made Stallions has set fees for its 2014 roster of stallions, which features a pair of Grade 1 winners new for 2014 in Oxbow and Graydar.
Oxbow retires to stud as the only classic winner by sire of sires Awesome Again after his memorable front-running victory in this year’s Preakness S. (G1) under comeback jockey Gary Stevens, earning a Triple-Crown-high 106 Beyer. The millionaire colt was also runner-up in the Belmont S. (G1) three weeks later, making him the only 3-year-old of 2013 to finish first or second in multiple Triple Crown races. Oxbow, who is out of a full sister to Tiznow, will stand his first season for $20,000 stands and nurses.
Graydar enters stud off an undefeated 2013 campaign that saw the imposing son of Unbridled’s Song capture three major graded stakes wins. After nearly equaling the track record for a mile at Gulfstream, Graydar dominated the Donn. H. (G1) in his stakes debut. He went on to win the New Orleans H. (G2) and Kelso H. (G2), compiling earnings of $841,560. Graydar, who recorded a triple-digit Beyer in every start except one, retires with only one career defeat on the racetrack. He will stand his first season for a fee of $15,000 stands and nurses.
Eskendereya, the dominant winner of the 2010 Wood Memorial (G1), had his first yearlings sell in 2013 for an average of $126,489, including individuals up to $540,000. The son of Giant’s Causeway, who will have first 2-year-olds in 2014, will again stand for $17,500 stands and nurses. Fees also remain unchanged for Northern Afleet, Forestry, and Old Fashioned who will all stand for $8,000 stands and nurses. Astrology, who’s set to stand his second season at Taylor Made Stallions, will be $7,500 stands and nurses again in 2014.
