Data Driven zipped to a length and a quarter victory in his debut Saturday at Gulfstream Park, getting the 6 ½-furlongs in 1:18.12 and earning a very good Beyer Speed Figure of 85 (VIDEO).
The 3-year-old Northern Afleet colt got into a spirited duel with Face of Winner, with the pair rolling through a half-mile in :45.71. The pair was inseparable until mid-stretch, when Data Driven forged ahead to prove best.
Data Driven was bred in Kentucky by Winchell Thoroughbreds and is owned by Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence. The partnership paid $175,000 for Data Driven at last year’s OBS Select 2-year-old sale. He is out of the Grade three-placed Tapit mare Selective.
