Superwolf, a 2-year-old son of Instagrand, became his sire’s first stakes winner on Oct. 26 with a front-running tally in the $100,000 Best of Ohio Juvenile S. at Mahoning Valley Racetrack.
Superwolf led from start to finish in the 1 1/16-mile race, withstanding challenges at several points of call. The bay juvenile turned each of them away with great determination, winning by a half-length over Ed’s Reward.
After placing second in a stakes in what was his career debut on Aug. 10, Superwolf broke his maiden by a eye-opening 13 lengths three weeks later. He is now 2-1-0 in four starts and has earned $101,020 for owner Marion Gorham.
Superwolf was bred by Mapleton Thoroughbred Farm, LLC and hails from the same family as Grade 1 winner Mayo On the Side.
Instagrand is a top-10 First-Crop sire with 13 individual winners, including three stakes performers and nearly $900,000 in progeny earnings to date. His 2025 fee was recently announced at $10,000 S&N.
