Picking up right where he left off at the close of Tuesday’s OBS opening session, Midnight Storm had the first lot in the ring on Wednesday, and bidders responded with a flurry, going to $320,000 for hip No. 305.
This was the third of Midnight Storm’s first crop of 2-year-olds to bring at least $300,000 at the four-day sale.
Top Line Sales, agent, consigned the colt, who had worked a swift furlong in :10 1/5 during the Under Tack Show. West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc. was the winning bidder.
The dark bay was bred in Kentucky by Southern Wives Partners.
With a 2-year-old sales average of $159,916, Midnight Storm is currently the only First-Crop sire in the top five by average price with a stud fee of under $30,000.
