Ravi’s Song plays winning tune in Pelleteri Stakes

Ravi’s Song notched her second career stakes victory on Feb. 12 with a last-to-first rally in the $60,000 Pelleteri S. at Fair Grounds. The daughter of Unbridled’s Song won the $81,200 Shelby County H. last year at Indiana Downs.

Five-year-old Ravi’s Song had to come from last in the field of eight to get the win. The gray or roan mare was still some nine lengths from the lead after three-quarters of a mile before commencing her rally up the inside coming into the stretch. She moved off the rail about a furlong from home and moved to the front quickly to win by a widening length and a half. The final time for the 1 1/16 miles was 1:45.72.

Ravi’s Song has been well-managed throughout her career, and has rewarded her owner/breeder Mrs. Yoshio Fujita with a 5-2-1 record in 11 starts, earning $198,173. Fujita also campaigned the dam of Ravi’s Song, the excellent race mare Lu Ravi. She finished in the top 3 in 22 of 26 starts, earning more than $1.8 million, winning nine stakes, including five graded races.
