Bitters ‘n Bourbon made a big splash at Oaklawn Park on Saturday with a dominating 4 1/4-length victory for the 3-year-old colt in a one mile maiden special weight affair (VIDEO).

Old Fashioned’s second crop has gotten off to an excellent start this year, with the 3-year-old filly Sweet Whiskey triumphing in the $100,000 Old Hat S. (G3) two weeks ago at Gulfstream Park.

After breaking outward slightly from his rail post, the bay colt settled into a smooth stride to assume command going into the first turn. Very relaxed down the backside, and into the final bend, the eventual winner pulled away from the competition with ease, with rider Channing Hill standing up as they neared the wire.

Bitters ‘n Bourbon, who was third in his Nov. 23 debut at Churchill Downs, has now picked up $36,460 for owners Robert Land and Becky Brockway.
