The first day of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training featured a colt by Old Fashioned selling for $190,000, the eighth-best price of the session and fourth-highest paid for a colt. The figure is nearly 24 times his 2013 stud fee.
Old Fashioned’s first crop of foals are 2-year-olds of 2013 and have been a big hit at the sales thus far this year. Through the end of March, he leads all freshman sires by 2-Year-Olds In Training Sales with an average of $263,750. He is standing the 2013 season at Taylor Made for $8,000 stands and nurses.
K. K. Eishindo placed the winning bid for Hip No. 165, consigned by Bobby Jones Equine, LLC, agent. The chestnut colt, who worked an eighth mile in:10 seconds flat during last week’s under tack show, is out of Catspaw, by Storm Cat, a daughter of graded stakes winner Footing.
