Officer marching up the ranks on the Juvenile Sire List

Following a strong weekend for his two-year-old runners on the East Coast, Officer has charged into second place on the 2010 Juvenile Sires List.

Officer’s success was bolstered by new maiden special weight winners on June 18 and 19. Making her career debut, Wild About Sonny swept 3-wide to take a $72,000 maiden at Monmouth in :59.12. She was bred in Kentucky by Gulf Coast Farms LLC, and is now owned by George and Lori Hall. A day earlier, Tomica’s Spirit broke first and never looked back, driving to a 2 ½ length victory in a $34,720 maiden at Penn National. She was bred in Pennsylvania by Kathleen Crompton, and races now for Daniel Ljoka.

The two victories brought Officer’s juvenile totals for the year to 13 wins/placings from 16 starts, an 81% in the money ratio. Officer is less than $30,000 in progeny earnings behind the #1 juvenile sire. This crop of two-year-olds is his first sired at Taylor Made.

The same weekend, two runners from Officer’s 3-year-old crop impressed winning north of the border. At Woodbine, stakes colt Chief Counsel was heavily favored in a $61,700 allowance over 1 1/16 miles on the Polytrack; and further North in Canada, Holly Michelle dominated a 6-furlong allowance on dirt, winning by 6 ½ lengths under wraps.
