With the first day of the OBS Spring sale in the books, Officer was the leading sire by average sale price, with a figure of $71,000. The four-day sale in Ocala runs Apr. 19-22.
The first to sell by his sire 2-year-old to sell was hip No. 163, a bay colt consigned by Andy Cant, agent. The colt, named Highly Decorated went to Jerry Hollendorfer for a price of $62,000. He is out the winning mare More Ribbons, a full sister to Grade 3-placed colt Reformer Rally and a half-sister to the listed winning filly Wild Royal.
Somewhat later in the day, hip No. 224, a filly consigned by Leprechaun Racing, agent, went to Robert Harvey for $80,000. The unnamed chestnut filly is out of Ontheqt, a multiple listed stakes winner in Canada. The filly had produced the co-fastest eighth-mile breeze at the under tack preview show, getting the furlong in a snappy 9.8 seconds. Watch the workout video here.
