North American record-setter Cogburn is among the three finalists for an Eclipse award in the Male Sprinter category. The awards will be announced at the Eclipse ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 23, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Cogburn has already been honored in the Longines World’s Best Horse Rankings by being named the highest-ranked sprinter with a 120 rating.
His win in the 2024 Jaipur S. (G1) saw him complete the 5 ½-furlongs on the turf in :59.80, which is a North American record and earned him a Beyer Speed Figure of 114. He also won the $2 million Ainsworth Turf Sprint S. (G2) at Kentucky Downs and Turf Sprint S. (G2) on Derby Day at Churchill Downs, each time getting Beyers of 107.
Retired to stud for 2025, Cogburn finished his career with $2,422,630 in earnings and a record of 9-2-0. He was campaigned by Clark Brewster and Bill & Corinne Heiligbrodt and bred by Bellary Bay Bloodstock.
Cogburn was one of Not This Time’s nine graded stakes winners and his leading earner in 2024. Not This Time finished in the top five on the 2024 General Sire list with 24 stakes horses.
