Mia Martina kicked into high gear in the stretch to score a half-length debut victory on the grass Friday at Gulfstream Park West.
The 2-year-old filly is the 22nd winner for Not This Time, which leads all First-Crop sires.
Mia Martina was unhurried for most of the 7 1/2-furlongs, content to six some eight lengths from the front for the first five furlongs. She began to close the gap on the turn, then really accelerated in the stretch, blowing by the leaders to best Starship Nterprise with a well-timed move.
The winner is owned by Jos Samanes LLC and Gianni Fittipaldi and was bred by CESA Farm. She is out of the stakes-placed mare Proud and Charming, and is a half-sister to dual stakes winner The Adrie Factor.
Among Not This Time’s large group of winners is dual Grade 1 winner Princess Noor and stakes winners Dirty Dangle and Vacay. After breeding 159 mares this past season, his largest book to date, Not This Time will stand the 2021 season for $40,000 S&N.
