Not This Time got his 18th First-Crop winner, most among freshman sires, on Sunday at Woodbine with Arzak’s front-running score in a six-furlong maiden special weight at Woodbine.
The chestnut colt broke in front and never let up, maintaining a one-length lead for the first half-mile, then opening up in the stretch to score by three lengths in a quick 1:09.84 on the synthetic surface.
Owned by Sonata Stable, Arzak was a $575,000 OBS Spring sale 2-year-old after selling for $85,000 at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling sale. He was bred in Kentucky by John Oxley.
In addition to being the leading First-Crop sire of winners, Not This Time also leads the list by wins (23), as well as black type winners and black type wins. The Taylor Made stallion will stand the 2021 season for $40,000 S&N.
