Northern Eclipse earned her first stakes win on Saturday at Laurel Park with a game victory in the $75,000 Camptown S. at 5 ½-furlongs for fillies and mares on the turf.
The daughter of Northern Afleet is his 76th lifetime stakes winner and eighth stakes winner of 2017.
From her outside post in the field of seven, Northern Eclipse hustled out of the gate to clear off to a two-length lead in the first quarter-mile. She held that margin until deep stretch, when the late charge of Ring Knocker reduced the spread to a neck on the wire.
The final time on the yielding turf was 1:05.69.
The winner is owned by Toby Roth and has now made $124,725 with a record of 4-4-0 in 12 lifetime starts. Northern Eclipse was bred by the Firestones, her dam Elsie Jay is a half-sister to Snow Dance, winner of five graded stakes.
