Quick Dagger fought his way to a head victory in $75,000 Turf Express S. Saturday evening at Evangeline Downs to become the 80th lifetime stakes winner for Northern Afleet. His six stakes winners in 2015 include Brazilian Grade 1 winner Barolo, who is targeting the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) and recent American Derby (G3) winner World Approval.
Already a seven-time winner heading into the Turf Express, Quick Dagger earned the win at the expense of post time favorite Heitai, whom he out-fought in the stretch to win by the slim margin in :55.29, a new course record for the five furlongs on the grass (VIDEO).
Four-year-old Quick Dagger is now 8-4-0 in his 20 starts and has earned $202,994. His dam, Dagger, is a Grade 2-placed filly by Tactical Cat. Quick Dagger was bred in Kentucky by Dream Walkin Farm Inc. and is owned by End Zone Athletics, Inc.
