Minks Aprise rallied strongly in the Golden Gate Fields’ stretch to win the $50,000 Camilla Urso S. by a widening 2 ¼-lengths – the first stakes win for the 4-year-old Northern Afleet filly.
Last in the field of six for the first half-mile after getting squeezed back soon after the start, Russell Baze guided the bay filly three wide in the stretch and powered by the field to win handily in 1:09.54 for the six furlongs.
Minks Aprise, who is owned by KMN Racing and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, has won half of her eight starts and earned $105,416.
Minks Aprise is Northern Afleet’s fifth stakes winner worldwide this year, three of them capturing graded stakes. The Taylor Made stallion has more than 70 black type winners and 130 black type horses lifetime.
