Igloo showed plenty of talent in her Saturday maiden special weight debut at Turfway Park, speeding to a front-running, 7 1/4-length win in the six-furlong affair for 2-year-old fillies.
The bay filly is the 12th First-Crop winner for Mshawish. The Taylor Made stallion got his first two stakes horses recently when maiden winners Arabian Prince placed in the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) at Churchill Downs and Taylor Avenue ran second in the Champions Day Lassie S. at Fair Grounds.
Igloo broke like a shot from post 1 to lead the field of 12 juveniles through a quarter-mile in :22.26. She began to pull away from the field at the top of the stretch and was the easiest of winners as she covered the distance in 1:10.56.
The winner is owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and was bred in Kentucky by Carolyn Vogel. Igloo is the first foal out of Winter Palace and is from the same family of Grade 1 winner Jessica Is Back.
Multiple Grade 1 winner Mshawish is standing the 2021 season for $7,500 S&N.
