One day after Epicenter dominated the Louisiana Derby (G1) and Last Leaf scored her first stakes win, Not This Time wrapped up the weekend with Midnight Stroll scoring a front-running victory in the $110,000 Sophomore Fillies S. Sunday at Tampa Bay Downs.
Not This Time’s Lucci was also stakes-placed over the weekend at Gulfstream Park, giving the Taylor Made stallion a commanding lead on the Third-Crop Sire list with $2.8 million in progeny earnings, almost double any other sire on the list.
Midnight Stroll, in the outside gate in the field of seven 3-year-old fillies, was in command from the break. She guided the field through a quarter in :23.57 and a half in :47.10. Up 2 ½-lengths at that point, Midnight Stroll did not let up and came home powerfully to win by 3 ¼-lengths in 1:23.12 for the seven furlongs.
“She does it so effortlessly – every time I’ve been on her, since this meet started, she has shown so much class,” winning jockey Pablo Morales said. “We loved her the day of her maiden win, but after that she got even better. She came in real sharp today and when the gate opened, she was gone. She is a very classy horse.”
Midnight Stroll has won two of her four starts for Gatsas Stables, R. A. Hill Stable and Steven Schoenfeld and has earned $83,225. The dark bay was bred by Dr. Carolin Von Rosenberg DVM and is the second foal out of Midnight Magic.
Midnight Stroll sold for $225,000 at the 2020 OBS October Yearling and HRA sale.
