Katz My Song delivered an eye-catching performance to break his maiden at Saratoga in his second career start (VIDEO). The well-bred 3-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song is out of the multiple graded stakes winner Katz Me If You Can.
Dueling through the first half mile in :46.01, Katz My Song put away the favorite Dream Steeler at the top of the lane, then drew off in the stretch to win by a widening 4 1/2-lengths. The Todd Pletcher trainee finished the seven furlongs in 1:24.53.
Katz My Song was bred in Kentucky by Overbrook Farm and sold for $185,000 at the 2009 Keeneland September yearling sale to his current owner BesiLu Stables.
Unbridled’s Song’s progeny have won 13
stakes thus far in 2011, third best among all North American
stallions.
