Las Malvegas broke her maiden with an easy three length win at Woodbine on Sept. 4, propelling her sire Half Ours into the top 5 on the first-crop sire list.
As the race chart notes state, Las Malvegas was “much the best” as the bay filly powered to the lead a quarter mile into the five furlong sprint on the Polytrack, drawing off to finish the course in :57.40 seconds.
Bred in Kentucky by Royal Oak Farm, LLC, Las Malvegas was consigned and sold by Royal Oak Farm LLC as a weanling for $80,000 at the 2009 Keeneland November sale. The filly comes from the same family as champion older mare Tempted, Grade 3 winner End Sweep, and half million earner Under the Rug.
One day after Las Malvegas’ score, Silver Bullet Gal became the latest winner for Half Ours, winning by a facile four lengths going five furlongs at Evangeline Downs.
The Florida bred 2-year-old filly is the first foal out of Pitanga, who placed in three stakes at Calder and Tampa Bay Downs and earned $127,292.
