Caramel Cream won her first two-turn main track start at Churchill Downs on Saturday to give first-crop sire Graydar his 13th winner this year, which ranks fifth among all freshman sires standing in North America.
Caramel Cream, who had some very bad racing luck in her prior outing on the Keeneland turf, avoided trouble this time with a clean break, stalking in second most of the 1 1/16-mile trip before forging to the lead in deep stretch to win by 1 1/4-lengths.
The chestnut filly is owned by her breeder Virginia H. Tarra Trust. Caramel Cream is from the same family as two-time Grade 1 winner Giant Oak and Sixty Sails S. (G3) winner Crafty Oak.
