Forestry’s 3-year-old son Forward Harch has been battling some of the top sophomores on Gulfstream Park’s main track this winter. A switch to the turf resulted in an impressive come-from-behind victory in a one-mile maiden race on Mar. 27.
Forward Harch placed against the likes of Miner’s Reserve, Bushwacked, and Odysseus in his previous two outings at the always tough Gulfstream meet. His conditioner Rick Violette, Jr. decided to try the green, and Forward Harch responded with a stellar victory, coming from seventh with a quarter-mile to go to get up by a length on the wire. He made up about 4 ½-lengths in the sprint home, zipping the final two furlongs in an excellent 23 seconds.
Forward Harch has now earned $35,450 in four starts, with a record of 1-1-2. He is out of the mare Hilarity, who is a half-sister to High Fly, winner of the Florida Derby (G1), Fountain of Youth (G2), and Aventura S., all at Gulfstream.
