Forestry’s Claresmiezie dominates in Assiniboia Oaks

Claresmiezie racked up her fourth career stakes victory with a easy 7 3/4-length score in the $50,000 Assiniboia Oaks Aug. 6. The 3-year-old daughter of Forestry won the Chariot Chase H. in June, as well as well as the Princess Margaret S. and Lassie S. last year, with all the victories coming by at least five lengths.

Three of Forestry’s five stakes winners in 2012 have won multiple black-type events, led by Shackleford’s wins in the Metropolitan H. (G1) and the Churchill Downs S. (G2).

Much like she did in her earlier stakes victories, Claresmiezie simply outclassed the competition. After setting solid pace of :46.60 for the half-mile, she drew away from the field with little encouragement to finish the mile in 1:40.80 on the fast track.

Claresmiezie was bred in Kentucky by Aaron and Marie Jones and is the first foal out of Deputy of Wood, whose siblings include Illinois Derby (G2) winner Distilled and Kent BC (G3) winner Three Wonders.

The dark bay filly is now 6-1-0 in ten starts, with earnings of $162,243. Claresmiezie runs in the name of Riversedge Racing Stable, who bought the filly privately after her debut at Keeneland in 2011.
