Forestry’s Claresmiezie crushes foes by 15 in Princess Margaret

Claresmiezie is making a huge name for herself on the Canadian circuit, with a succession of dominating stakes wins. The 2-year-old daughter of Forestry most recently ran away to a 15 1/4-length victory in the $50,000 Princess Margaret S. July 29 at Northlands Park.

The six-furlong race was never really in doubt as the winner went right to the lead on her own, maintaining a three length margin for the first four furlongs, then left the field to fight it out for the minor awards.

The Princess Margaret was basically a replay of Claresmiezie’s 8 1/4-length win in the $50,000 Lassie S. at Hastings Park on July 9, a race that could have been won by a much larger margin.

The dark bay juvenile is now 4-3-0-0, with earnings of $75,273. Claresmiezie runs in the name of Riversedge Racing Stable, who bought the filly privately after her debut at Keeneland last spring.

Claresmiezie was bred in Kentucky by Aaron and Marie Jones and is the first foal out of Deputy of Wood, whose siblings include Illinois Derby (G2) winner Distilled and Kent BC (G3) winner Three Wonders.

Forestry is ranked eighth in progeny earnings on the 2011 general sire list; his leading earner is Preakness (G1) winner Shackleford, one of six stakes winners and a dozen stakes horses to his credit. Shackleford will start in the Grade 1 Haskell I. July 31 at Monmouth Park.
