Maple Forest notched her first stakes victory in Monmouth Park’s $75,000 Dearly Precious S. on July 10, giving her sire Forestry his second stakes winner in as many days. Claresmiezie was a dominating winner in the $50,000 Lassie S. on July 9.
Three-year-old Maple Forest went off the 8-5 favorite in the six furlong Dearly Precious and got a perfect trip, sitting second for the first half-mile before taking over the lead at the top of the stretch and going on to win by 1 1/4-lengths in 1:09.36.
“The race went fast, finishing in 1:09 and one,” said winning jockey Joe Bravo. “This filly did it handily. She did it easily and could have a bright future.”
Maple Forest raised her record to 3-3-0 from eight starts and earnings of $152,566. In her prior stakes starts, both at Monmouth Park, she was second in the $100,000 Sorority S. at age 2 and also in the $75,000 Just Smashing S. last month.
The bay filly is owned by her breeder Blue Heaven Farm LLC. She is out of Maple Syrple, winner of the Clarendon S. and $170,892.
