Eustacia, a 2-year-old by Forestry, cruised to a seven-length victory in the $50,000 Bird of Pay S. on Friday evening, the stakes debut for the chestnut juvenile bred by Mike Abraham.
The Kentucky-bred filly became the third two-year-old stakes winner in the past 15 days by Forestry, joining $100,000 Evangeline Starlet winner Forest Lake and Assiniboia Debutante winner Yelling Timber.
Eustacia was coming off a solid maiden special weight win, and turned her stakes debut into a one-horse race with a strong stretch run, getting the six and one-half furlongs in 1:17.01.
The winner is Forestry’s 54th lifetime stakes winner, one of eight stakes winners this year by her sire. Eustacia is owned by Curtis and Darrell Landry and is now 2-2-0 in four starts.
