Shared Heart’s showy 11 length victory at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 16 got the 3-year-old daughter of Forestry’s career off to a brilliant start (VIDEO). She left little doubt as who was the best, leaving her eight foes far behind when she was set down for the stretch drive.
Forestry has had seven winners in the past five days, including three at Gulfstream.
Owned and bred by Werthiemer and Frere, Shared Heart was obviously well-meant as she was sent off the 9-5 favorite in the seven furlong event. Breaking from post six, she was caught on the outside of a three-way battle for the first half mile. Nearing the top of the stretch, she kicked into another gear for jockey John Velazquez and widened her margin with every stride. The final time was 1:23.77 for the Todd Pletcher trainee.
The victory was worth $23,100 for the owners. Shared Heart is the first starter out of Seeking the Heart, who hit the board in nine of 15 lifetime outings. She is a half-sister to Olmodavor, who won over $700,000 and a pair of Grade 3 races: the Native Diver H. and the Whirlaway H. Wertheimer and Frere campained both horses.
Forestry will stand the 2011 season at Taylor Made for $12,500, LFS&N.
