Forestry 2YO punches ticket to Breeders’ Cup

New Normal led every step of the way in the $200,000 Natalma S. (G3), and won a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in the process.

The daughter of Forestry has now won two straight for owner Robert S. Evans and trainer Mark Frostad, and is heading to the Breeders’ Cup if all systems remain “go.” She was the second $100,000 juvenile stakes performer by Forestry on the day, joining Catinatree, runner-up in the Miss Shenandoah Stakes at Charles Town.

New Normal’s connections appear headed to the Breeders’ Cup after their filly’s effort. “I’m sure we’re all of the same mind,” Frostad told the media. “If everything’s well, it’ll be a go. She’s a big, strong filly…she’s developed very nicely all the way along. We thought we’d give her a shot in here, and she rewarded us.”

New Normal was consigned to the Keeneland September Sale in 2009 by Taylor Made. Out of the Red Ransom mare New Economy, she is a half-sister to a Malibu Moon colt who sold for $650,000 in Book 1 at Keeneland on Sept. 12th. Her dam is in foal for 2011 to Unbridled’s Song.

Forestry is now the sire of 38 stakes winners and 65 stakes horses. He ranks among the leading General Sires and Juvenile Sire in 2010.
