Silvislip, a 2-year-old filly by Forestry, looked impressive in the first juvenile race of the 2010 Saratoga meet, scoring by 1 1/4-lengths in her career debut in the 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race against eight other juveniles.
Steady rains left the main track sloppy, but the off going did not bother the John Kimmel-trained filly. She broke in third, was always within a length of the lead, went three wide on the turn, secured the lead in mid-stretch, and went on to win under urging by Edgar Prado.
The Forestry filly is just one of 98 register foals in his 2010 crop of 2-year-olds out of some top-class mares. Silvislip fits that bill; she is a daughter of Ifyouprefersilver, who won five of 11 starts, accounting for the Chou Croute H. and the Winter Solstice S., earning $182,950. She is also a half-sister to Da Dean, winner of the Grade 3 Lawrence Realization H.
Silvislip is owned by Gold Mark Farm LLC, who bought the filly for $100,000 at the 2009 Keeneland September yearling sale. She was consigned to the sale by Taylor Made.
