Fiddlers Afleet wins second stakes of 2012

Fiddlers Afleet prevails in the $100k Clever Electrician S.

With a determined stretch drive Fiddlers Afleet came out on top of a three-horse battle to win the $100,000 Clever Electrician S. Sunday at Saratoga [VIDEO]. The 6-year-old Northern Afleet horse won the $85,000 Chasin’ Wimmin S. at Belmont in July and now has four career stakes wins.

Northern Afleet is the sire of seven stakes winners this year, topped by Amazombie, last year’s Eclipse Award winning sprinter who has captured the Grade 1 Bing Crosby S. and Grade 2 Potrero Grande S. at Del Mar this summer and is on track to defend his Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) victory.

Fiddlers Afleet was never worse than third in the seven furlong Clever Electrician, and after hooking early leader Johannesburg Smile at the quarter pole, he forged ahead inside the sixteenth pole and held the late run of Sailmate to get the win. The final time was a very solid 1:22.32.

Fiddlers Afleet has amassed $668,045 in his 27-race career, with an impressive 8-6-3 record. The David Jacobson trainee is owned by Gary Barber. The New York bred is out of American Tango, winner of the Magnolia Breeders’ Cup S.
