Eskendereya yearlings bring $370,000, $350,000 at Kee Sept

Eskendereya, whose first foals are 2-year-olds this year, had an excellent first week of the Keeneland September Yearling sale, with a $370,000 filly and $350,000 colt topping the list of seven six-figure horses for the top-10 Freshman sire.

Hip No. 540, consigned by Clarkland Farm, is Eskendereya’s sales topper to date. The chestnut Kentucky bred went to Zayat Stables. She is out of the top producer Comfort Zone, whose foals include multiple Grade 3 winner The Pamplemousse and stakes winner American Lady.

Hip No. 110 went to Three Amigos Stables for $350,000 from the Woods Edge Farm consignment. The colt, also bred in Kentucky, is out of the Quiet American mare Mysterieuse Etoile, dame of Strub S. (G2) winner Guilt Trip.

With an average yearling price of $91,286 to date in 2014, Eskendereya ranks in the top five of all sires represented this year by their second crop.
