Cali Thirty Seven rolled to a 3 ½-length maiden special weight victory Thursday at Aqueduct to give Eskendereya his 21st winner of 2015, tops among all Second Crop sires in North America.
Cali Thirty Seven was in a head-to-head tussle with Purrfectly Mine for the first quarter mile, then began to separate herself from the field and finished up the one mile in 1:38 4/5 without being asked in the final strides (VIDEO).
Owned by Leonard Green and Robert McLynn, Cali Thirty Seven was bred in Kentucky by Atlas Farm and Conor Doyle. The chestnut filly is out of Mama Tia and is a half-sister to 2014 Winning Colors S. (G3) winner Southern Honey. Mama Tia is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2 winner Runway Model.
