First-time starter C’est Moi, followed closely by Exceedingly, crossed the wire 1-2 in a one-mile maiden special weight contest on the Tampa Bay Downs turf course on Sunday. Both 3-year-old fillies are by Eskendereya, who has 11 winners to date in 2015, second-most of any Second Crop sire this year.
C’est Moi did her best running in the stretch in the one-mile affair, coming from seventh at the midway point, splitting horses in the stretch to win by three parts of a length over Exceedingly. The runner-up was in third most of the trip, took over the lead in mid-stretch, then won a three-way battle for the place spot in a game effort (VIDEO).
C’est Moi races for Augustin Stable and is trained by Jonathan Sheppard. The chestnut Kentucky-bred filly is a half-sister to six winners, including Rojo Toro, winner of the San Rafael S. (G2).
