Embur’s Song motored to a 3 1/2-length victory in Woodbine’s Hendrie S. (G3) on May 14 to score her second straight added money win in impressive style (VIDEO). The 4-year-old daughter of Unbridled’s Song was fresh off  a track record performance in the $125,000 Doubledogdare S. (G3) April 22 at Keeneland.

Unbridled’s Song is once again a top 10 North American sire, with over $2.2 million in progeny earnings this year. His 11 stakes horses this year include Grade 2 winners Mission Impazible (New Orleans H.) and Honor Vivian (Gay Dalton H.).

Turning back to 6 1/2-furlongs in the $188,394 Hendrie, Embur’s Song handled the task with class. Stalking in third for the first half-mile, she went five wide in the stretch to win going away in a time of 1:15.01, just three-fifths of a second off the track record. Her 101 Beyer Speed Figure is the first triple-digit effort of her career, and best since the 99 she received for her smashing 13 1/4-length win in her racing debut at Keeneland in April of 2010.

“Looking at the Daily Racing Form, she showed that she’s actually a speed horse,” said winning jockey Patrick Husbands. “This morning when I spoke with Todd (trainer Todd Pletcher), I asked if she had to be on the lead. He said, ‘I don’t think so. Just play it by ear.’ As we left the gate, the first three strides she relaxed.”

“It takes good horses to run fast,” added Husbands. “Good horses make good riders.”

Embur’s Song sold to her owner Fares Farm at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale for $170,000. Out of the winning mare Embur Sunshine, Embur’s Song is a half-sister to the Canadian stakes winner Ten Flat and the stakes placed Dawn Raid and Embattle.

Canadian-bred Embur’s Song upped her lifetime earnings to $368,816 and her record to 8-4-1-1. She was bred in Ontario by Josham Farms Limited.
