Embur’s Song rolls to 4th straight stakes win in G3 Matron

With her front-running victory in the $193,660 Matron S. (G3) July 24 at Woodbine, Embur’s Song won her fourth consecutive stakes of 2011 (VIDEO). The streak started with a track record performance in the Doubledogdare S. (G3) at Keeneland on April 22, and was followed by wins in the Hendrie S. (G3) at Woodbine and the Windward S. at Presque Isle Downs.

Embur’s Song, 4, is the leading North American earner of 2011 for her sire Unbridled’s Song. She has bankrolled $387,798 this year and $555,416 overall, with a record of 6-1-1 from 10 starts.

In the Matron, Embur’s Song popped right out of the gate to open up two lengths after an opening quarter mile in :23.59 seconds. She maintained that advantage until mid-stretch, when 2010 Canadian Horse of the Year Biofuel mounted a challenge, but the winner had plenty left as Patrick Husbands guided her to a three-quarter length win in 1:43.39 for the 1 1/16 miles on the Polytrack.

“I took a little hold of her after the turn and she was relaxed from there. She was traveling easy,” said Husbands. “Today, in the post parade, she was on her game. She’s just a nice horse.”

Embur’s Song sold to her owner Fares Farm at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale for $170,000. Out of the winning mare Embur Sunshine, Embur’s Song is a half-sister to the Canadian stakes winner Ten Flat and the stakes placed Dawn Raid and Embattle.
