Relentless rains Saturday at Gulfstream Park didn’t stop Eskendereya’s second-time starter Easy to Say from strolling to an easy three length victory in a six furlong maiden special weight contest for 3-year-olds.
Eskendereya now has 14 winners this year, second-best on the Second Crop Sire list. His impressive list of sophomore winners includes graded stakes fillies Eskenformoney and Isabella Sings.
Though the rain left the field barely visible down the backstretch, Easy to Say was up on the front end after breaking from his outside post. When the field came into view near the head of the stretch, Easy to Say was pulling away from the field and splashed home a comfortable winner.
Trained by Ben Perkins, Jr., the New Farm homebred who is nominated to this year’s Triple Crown, is a half-brother to stakes winners Hardened Wildcat and Vengeful Wildcat. The colt’s dam, Wild Snitch, was a winner of the Grade 3 Sorority S.
