Deputy Daney got 2010 off to a flying start for Officer when the 3-year-old took the Jimmy Winkfield S. at Aqueduct on Jan. 18. The six furlong race was the third victory in as many starts for the Cathal Lynch trainee.

In his previous two wins, a maiden special weight and allowance at Philadelphia Park, Deputy Daney used his considerable speed to get to the front and stay there. The Winkfield was no different; he dueled with the 3-5 favorite Citizens Arrest for the first quarter mile, then took over top spot, coming home a 1 1/4-length winner.

Deputy Daney has now earned $92,400 for owner Winners Dinner LLC. He was purchased by the trainer at the OBS Spring 2-year-old sale in April, 2009.
