Dana’s Beauty and Way to Be Marie accounted for stakes wins on Mar. 22, bolstering Not This Time’s stellar day that was topped by Final Gambit’s win in the Jeff Ruby S. (G3).
Stakes veteran Dana’s Beauty won her fifth career added-money race with a commanding performance in the $250,000 Latonia S., a race she also won in 2024, at Turfway Park.
In the three-path from the outset, Dana’s Beauty was never more than a couple of lengths off the pace set by Takemetothebeach. She closed in on the pacesetter on the final turn and took over in upper stretch, then drew off smartly to win by 3 ½-lengths.
Dana’s Beauty, who is undefeated in four starts at Turfway, is 12-6-9 in 45 lifetime starts and has earned $974,603. The dark bay 7-year-old is owned by Resolute Racing and was bred in Kentucky by John Liviakis.
Way to Be Marie, 4, took the $150,000 Tom Benson Memorial S. at Fair Grounds for her first added money win as well as become the 45th worldwide stakes winner for her sire. Racing in midpack for most of the 1 1/16-mile turf race, Way to Be Marie got a dream trip after most of the field drifted wide turning for home, allowing the filly to fly up the inside and win by 1 ¼-lengths.
Way to Be Marie, who had placed in stakes four times, is now 3-4-2 in 11 starts and has earned $361,300 for Robert LaPenta and Madaket Stables LLC. The bay filly was bred by William Harrigan and Mike Pietrangelo.
