A colt from the first crop of Horse of the Year California Chrome brought a winning bid of $175,000 during Monday’s session of the Aug. 5-6 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale.

Consigned by Vinery Sales, agent, hip No. 55 went to the Crow-Sharp Venture partnership.

The Kentucky-bred chestnut juvenile is out of Magnificent Song, winner of the Garden City Breeder’s Cup (G1) and Lake George S. (G3).

The richest Kentucky Derby (G1) winner in history, California Chrome bred 278 mares in his first two seasons at Taylor Made. He has three lots scheduled to sell Tuesday at Saratoga.
