Boiling Springs score makes it three straight for Strike It Rich

Strike It Rich, a 3-year-old daughter of Unbridled’s Song, won her graded debut with a front-running victory in the $150,000 Boiling Springs (G3) over the Monmouth Park turf course. This was the third win in a row for the gray/roan filly, who won the Little Silver S., also at Monmouth, last month.

Unbridled’s Song stands in seventh place on the 2010 North American sire list, with progeny earnings of more than $3.55 million.

The Boiling Springs was basically over after the first half-mile went in :48 seconds and Strike It Rich alone on a 3 1/2-length lead. Garrett Gomez let the field get a little closer on the turn, then asked his mount at the top of the stretch. She responded willingly, finishing up a comfortable 1 1/4-length winner. Strike It Rich covered the mile and a sixteenth over firm turf in 1:40 1/5, earning a lifetime-best 89 Beyer Speed Figure.

With the win, Strike It Rich pushed her career record to 4-0-1 from eight starts, with earnings of $185,755 for Waterville Lake Stable. Her trainer, Christophe Clement, as agent, purchased Strike It Rich for $350,000 in 2008 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select yearling sale. The big sale price reflects the quality of her dam Belle of Perintown, winner of the Grade 2 Silverbulletday S. and the Pocahontas S. Her only other foal to start is Sumptuous, a three-time stakes placed filly and a winner of $104,295.
