Forestry’s 3-year-old filly Doe skipped to a smart-looking two-length victory in the $50,000 Beautiful Day S. May 31 at Delaware Park. The bay distaffer chalked up her first black-type win and is one of three stakes winners in the past five days for her sire, highlighted by Shackleford’s thrilling score in the $750,000 Metropolitan H. (G1) May 28 at Belmont Park.
Doe stumbled a bit at the break of the six-furlong Beautiful Day, but recovered quickly and was up a length after a quarter mile in :22.21. She controlled the pace around the turn, then drew off by five lengths in mid-stretch before being eased up late to finish in 1:10.48 on a fast track.
Bred in Kentucky by Robert S. Evans, Doe is out of the A.P. Indy mare Spin Control, a stakes winner of $118,912. Her only other foal to start is ten-time winner Rove’s Boy.
