An eye-catching, very quick six furlong debut by Almost Famous Friday at Churchill Downs earned the Unbridled’s Song colt the prestigious TDN ‘Rising Star’ tag following the six furlong move in 1:10.90 (VIDEO).

Trained by Pat Byrne for Chuck & Maribeth Sandford, the dark bay or brown colt toyed with his competition as several foes gave him a challenge, but he handled them all with ease to win by 2 1/4-lengths for a very strong Beyer Speed Figure of 79.

Almost Famous was a hit in the sales ring as well, bringing a winning bid of $500,000 from Sanford at the Fasig-Tipton Florida 2-year-old sale in March. He is the second foal out of Wild Gams, the $1.17 million earner who won a trio of Grade 3 events and placed in the Grade 1 Prioress S.
