Officer leads way after day one at OBS Spring sale

With the first day of the OBS Spring sale in the books, Officer was the leading sire by average sale price, with a figure of $71,000. The four-day sale in Ocala runs Apr. 19-22.

The first to sell by his sire 2-year-old to sell was hip No. 163, a bay colt consigned by Andy Cant, agent. The colt, named Highly Decorated went to Jerry Hollendorfer for a price of $62,000. He is out the winning mare More Ribbons, a full sister to Grade 3-placed colt Reformer Rally and a half-sister to the listed winning filly Wild Royal.

Somewhat later in the day, hip No. 224, a filly consigned by Leprechaun Racing, agent, went to Robert Harvey for $80,000. The unnamed chestnut filly is out of Ontheqt, a multiple listed stakes winner in Canada. The filly had produced the co-fastest eighth-mile breeze at the under tack preview show, getting the furlong in a snappy 9.8 seconds. Watch the workout video here
