The Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders (KTOB) honored Unbridled’s Song as the Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund (KTDF) sire of the year for 2009.
The award reflects the success of a sire’s progeny in races funded via the KTDF. Unbridled’s Song joins an exclusive group that includes the likes of Mr. Prospector, Storm Cat, Danzig and A.P. Indy.
Unbridled’s Song had 89 winners in 2009, with 20 stakes winners, six of which won graded stakes. His progeny earned a total of $6,681,731. His leading earner was Zensational, who dominated the west coast sprint circuit with wins in the Pat O’Brien H., the Bing Crosby H., and the Triple Bend H., all Grade 1 races.
2010 has started with a bang for Unbridled’s Song as well. He is currently the third-leading sire on the General Sire list, already with 46 winners through Apr. 21. His leading earner on the year is the 3-year-old colt Mission Impazible, who is slated to make his next start in the May 1 Kentucky Derby (G1).
