Evening Jewel will have a turf campaign this summer.
Trainer Jim Cassidy has selected the $150,000 Honeymoon Handicap over 1 1/8 miles on turf on May 31 and the $250,000 American Oaks over 1 1/4 miles on July 3 as goals for Evening Jewel.
“She’ll run on anything,” Cassidy said. “She acts like she’s superior on the grass, but I don’t know how she could run any better.”
Owned by Tom and Marilyn Braly, Evening Jewel won the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland last month before the narrow loss in the Kentucky Oaks.
“You’ve got to be proud of her,” Cassidy said. “I saw her on Saturday morning, and she acted like she hadn’t run. She didn’t act like she was knocked out. After the Ashland Stakes, she was pretty knocked out.”
The American Oaks is the long-term goal for Cozi Rosie, who won her first stakes in Sunday’s Grade 3 Senorita Stakes over a mile on turf.
