Preakness weekend proves big for Forestry

Perhaps there was no stallion over Preakness weekend that made more noise across the country than Forestry, whose progeny racked up seven wins as well as a stakes placing on the Preakness undercard at Pimlico.

Streetscape, a 4-year-old filly, finished a solid runner-up for her second consecutive stakes start in the Skipat S. on that all-important Preakness card in Baltimore, moving her earnings to $118,960. Further south, Southern Style strolled to an impressive 6 ½-length victory in an allowance race at Louisiana Downs. The 5-year-old is s stakes winner that possesses career earnings of $167,220.

On Friday, Forestry Type continued his emergence as a future stakes performer, as the 3-year-old colt impressively captured his third win from five starts, winning a $30,500 allowance race by 2 ¾ lengths at Arlington Park. He now owns back-to-back allowance scores by 6 ¼ lengths.

Sunday was Forestry’s biggest day with three flashy winners from California to New York. Graysonia, a 3-year-old, broke through in a $50,000 maiden special weight, zipping six furlongs in 1:09.83 and earning an 85 Beyer Speed Figure. The talented bay has bankrolled $43,005.

At Churchill Downs, West Express streaked to a 6 ¼-length victory and moved his earnings to $134,103, while at Golden Gates in California Meili, a 4-year-old filly, was never challenged in her 2 ¼-length front-running score in a maiden special weight race.
