Nay’s Tap, a 4-year-old son of Northern Afleet, improved his stellar record to seven wins – three in stakes – from 13 starts after capturing the $75,000 Waterford Park H. on May 18 at Mountaineer Park.
Contested over a muddy track, Nay’s Tap broke sharply and took command of the six-furlong race, blitzing through fractions of 22.06, 44.76 and 56.61. The bay had plenty left in the stretch to run his competition off their feet, hitting the wire a length in front and stopping the clock in a crisp 1:08.64. The fast performance earned Nay’s Tap a Beyer Speed Figure of 94.
Trained by Debra Ketterman, Nay’s Tap moved his earnings to $256,558 for owner David Leonard III. He was bred in West Virginia by Wade Sanderson and hails from the Pleasant Tap mare Tapforaly. His impressive career record of 7-1-3 from 13 starts includes six stakes placings to go along with his three stakes wins.
Northern Afleet is again a Top 10 General Sire in North America for the second consecutive year with progeny earnings approaching $2.2 million.
