Old Fashioned sires first foal

Fox Hill Farm’s Old Fashioned, an undefeated juvenile and the winter-book favorite for the 2009 Kentucky Derby, sired his first foal on Jan. 15 when a dark bay or brown colt was born at Destiny Oaks farm in Ocala, FL.

Bred by Destiny Oaks, the colt is out of the High Yield mare Destiny’s Yield, a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Brush Over.

The 5-year-old Old Fashioned was an undefeated Eclipse finalist at two, with dominating wins that included a 15 1/2-length allowance score followed by a 7 1/4-length romp in the Remsen S. (G2). The early favorite for the Derby, Old Fashioned remained undefeated after winning the Southwest S. (G3) in his 3-year-old debut. He was second in the Rebel S. (G2) and a courageous runner-up in the Arkansas Derby (G2) before retiring with earnings of $583,280.

By Unbridled’s Song, Old Fashioned is out of the graded stakes-winning Meadowlake mare Collect Call. He retired to Taylor Made Stallions in Nicholasville, KY as property of Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm. Old Fashioned bred 124 mares his first season at Taylor Made Stallions, where he’s set to stand in 2011 for a fee of $11,250 payable by Nov. 1, or $12,500 stands and nurses.
